The one good thing about the superhero showdown in Washington D.C. was that it quickly spread to every television station, which made breaking out of the hospital rather easy. Getting back into the Manor, on the other hand, was a little more complicated.

In which Jason does some traveling and then plays with some kids. Not dirty. )

[Dialogue and story - especially the cheesy lines - adapted from Legends #6. NFI, NFB, OOC okay, y'all know the drill by now!]

For weeks now, the plan had been for Jason to go home to Gotham this weekend, while everyone else was dealing with their parents and friends on the island. So, when Bruce e-mailed Jason to tell him not to come home after all, and that he'd let him know when a better time for his visit would be, Jason knew that something serious was going on, and worse, he was being left out. There was no way he was going to let that happen, orders from Bruce or not, so he'd booked the first portal out of Fandom, hoping to arrive in Gotham in time to not miss anything good. Besides, Bruce had said not to come home over the weekend, so he was still following orders. Technically.

In which Jason gets in over his head. Oops. )

[Dialogue and story adapted from Legends #1 and #2. Warning: This post contains graphic violence. NFI, NFB, OOC okay!]

The day after Jason's first encounter with Two-Face, two major events happened: Bruce gave a crapload of money to Gotham Memorial Hospital, and Two-Face robbed the Second Bank of Gotham.

Jason was aware of neither of these things, because he'd never made it out of bed.

In which there is brooding, introspection, and attempted murder. You know, like the average day in Gotham. )

[NFB, NFI, OOC okay! Dialogue and action adapted from Batman #411. Warnings: more comic violence and discussion of character death. But no shortpants this time.]

When Bruce had told Jason to come home this weekend, Jason hadn't been able to find out what was going on. Bruce insisted he'd fill Jason in on everything once he got back to Gotham, which Jason pointed out made it sound like Bruce didn't actually know what was going on yet, at which point Jason was told to just get home as quickly as he could, which meant Jason was probably right. He really liked when that happened.

In which Jason is reckless, and then gets some unsuspected news. )

[NFB, NFI, OOC okay! Dialogue and action adapted from Batman #410. Warnings: comic violence and character death, sort of.]

Jason still hadn't been sure what his test would be when he'd set out from the manor. Bruce had called it the Gauntlet, and had told him to go out, observe the city, and wait for further instructions. That part was fine with Jason - one of the few things he didn't like about Fandom was the lack of tall buildings, and being in Baltimore had reminded him just how much fun travel by grappling gun could be. There was no lack of places from which to swing and swoop around in Gotham either, and even taking the scenic route, Jason made it to Bruce's checkpoint in record time. As he waited to be contacted, he was starting to think this wouldn't be so hard after all.

And then he ran - almost literally - into Nightwing.

Together they make, like, a Robin and a half. Poor short Jason. )

[Well, that got longer than I thought it'd be. :) Plot and dialogue taken and tweaked from Nightwing: Year One. NFI, OOC okay, etc. :)]

Jason wasn't sure if it was possible to die from anticipation, but the way he figured it, he was only a few days away from finding out. As soon as he'd arrived in Gotham, he'd known that something was up. It was way too cold at home for August, and it didn't take long for him to learn that that was because at home, it was September. And here he'd thought Fandom's weirdness would stop at the island's borders.
